Undertaking meaningful Customer Centred Design (CCD) amidst the pandemic
At Maynard, creating a high-quality user experience lies at the very heart of what we do. Across all of our projects, engaging directly with stakeholders and the end-user is a fundamental component of our design process. But what happens when the ‘luxury’ of face-to-face engagement is suddenly no longer a legitimate option?
Is this the end of the humble push button?
The city as we know it, is changing. Amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19 our cities, our neighbourhoods and our people have had to adapt to a new way of being. Physical distancing restrictions have changed the way we communicate, connect, interact, move and function within both our public and private worlds.
Travel Behaviours
The ‘new normal’ is a hot topic. Whilst it’s not yet clear exactly what this will be, it’s clear that our travel behaviours post-Coronavirus will be different to those before it. As a regular commuter I’m already starting to think about how my daily journey to London might change when lockdown is eased or ended.
Smart Tactiles
A design response to the rapidly emerging demands on future cityscapes and the evolving behaviours of their inhabitants.
From designers to ambassadors
Placing passenger experience at the heart of a new wayfinding system for the rapidly expanding Gold Coast Airport has required a novel approach.
Rise of the Machines
The doom and gloom of the future job market is regularly speculated in the media. We are told that the rapid development of technology is likely to result in robots fulfilling 6.5 million jobs in Australia alone by 2030 (1) and the Bank of England has previously warned that up to 15 million jobs are at risk in Britain (2).
Knolling
‘v – The process of arranging like objects in parallel or 90-degree angles as a method of organization’.
Women in Wayfinding
2018 raised some hard-hitting issues surrounding gender equality, from pioneering movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp, and enforcing gender pay gap reporting. These movements have forced us to reflect on our own experiences as women working in the design industry, to consider this effect on our professional lives, and to address where and how things can be improved.
