The Kia Oval

The Kia Oval is where it all began. Based in Kennington, the grounds have been the home of Surrey Cricket Club since 1845.

Universally renowned as the home of the Ashes, the stadium boasts a rich heritage and was the first ground in England to host international test cricket in 1880. Since then, every great cricketer in the world has played in the shadow of the famous gas-holders which overlook the site.

The Ashes series, cricket’s oldest rivalry, saw Australia and England go head-to-head once again in 2023 and returned to The Kia Oval for the fifth and final match. As part of an ongoing upgrade programme we’re helping the Club to deliver a best-in-class guest experience for cricket fans visiting from all around the world.

The project aims to streamline people movement and reduce crowd flow issues while curating a consistent signage strategy across the historic venue. A temporary wayfinding scheme was installed ahead of the 2023 Ashes in Phase 1 of the programme, which will see a permanent masterplan delivered over the next few years.
