Blue Mountains

Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC) manages the gateways to some of Greater Sydney’s most stunning scenery, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. With a higher number of ageing and special needs community members than the state average, BMCC are committed to ensuring its natural sites and urban areas are accessible to all members of the community.

The Blue Mountains is on the doorstep of Sydney, as a World Heritage site with over 100 parks across the Blue Mountains area. It includes 135km of walking tracks, 90 lookouts, 34km of bike paths and 15km of Blue Mountains trails, including the Katoomba Falls and Three Sisters.

Maynard were engaged by the Blue Mountains City Council to review the current provision of wayfinding signage throughout the Blue Mountains, and prepare a strategy for its improvement. Through enhancing the design and provision of wayfinding signage, this project aims to provide a more welcoming and inclusive experience for all users, particularly those with specific accessibility needs.
