Founded in 1856, the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth (HJE) is London’s leading charitable hospital providing exemplary standards of care to patients. Their ambition is to become the hospital of choice for patients, staff, consultants and referring GP’s.
To achieve this, the hospital has undertaken a 3.5m ward refurbishment, and is now realising a circa £40m redevelopment over the coming years.
Ease of navigation can have a direct impact on visitor experience in a hospital. Good wayfinding can alleviate unnecessary stress or anxiety, particularly for those who are experiencing mental or physical discomfort. Maynard was commissioned to revisit and upgrade the hospital’s wayfinding infrastructure, for both the current and new facilities, to bring it up to date with the ongoing redevelopment programme and the recent brand refresh.
