The Sydney Metro City & Southwest project is linking the Northwest and Southwest of Sydney, passing through some of the city’s busiest transport hubs. A new underground metro station at Waterloo will revitalise the Waterloo precinct, and support the extension of the CBD. The new metro station will take pressure off Redfern and Green Square stations, and provide a fast, safe and reliable metro rail link to key employment areas in the Sydney CBD, North Sydney and Barangaroo.

Maynard, in partnership with John McAslan + Partners, were commissioned by John Holland Group to deliver both the signage and wayfinding, and customer centred design packages for the new station development. This involved the detailed planning, strategy, placement and coordination of an integrated signage and wayfinding system.

Customer centred design testing and validation activities were undertaken to ensure that the design of the station promotes an easy and enjoyable customer experience.
