Mid-Level / Senior Wayfinding Planners and Designers

Maynard is seeking talented, self-motivated wayfinding planners and designers with at least 3-5 years of practical industry experience. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a dynamic and rapidly expanding multi-disciplinary team where you will be heavily involved in a variety of high profile, creative and stimulating projects across the UK and internationally.

The Role and Responsibilities

The principle responsibilities of this role will vary depending on experience, but will typically include assisting the team in the development and delivery of wayfinding schemes from initial concept through to final on-site delivery.

Candidates need to demonstrate a practical knowledge of delivering high quality wayfinding strategies and systems, governed by robust information design principles. Experience working in agencies specialising in wayfinding and information design is advantageous.

Other design disciplines within the studio may also require support in the form of research, graphic illustration, marketing, model making etc.

Our salary/package is competitive and dependent on the candidate’s experience.

Typical tasks:

– Creation of wayfinding strategies across a variety of sectors and environments
– Undertaking project and user research, culminating in insightful design solutions
– Preparation and delivery of reports, presentations, workshops and pitches
– Collaborating with other design disciplines to co-ordinate the wayfinding strategy and design
– Coordination with leading industry suppliers and manufacturers

Skills:

– Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Design or Planning related subject
– 3-5 years of experience in established agencies, including client-facing responsibilities
– Excellent conceptual and strategic thinking skills with a user centric focus
– Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
– Ability to work across and/or lead multiple projects
– Working knowledge of design, typography and composition skills
– Conscientious, organised, thorough and highly detail minded
– Proactive, self-sufficient, collaborative and works well under pressure
– Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
– Fluent in English verbal and written, other languages a plus
– Must have a valid EU work permit

Bonus skills:

– CAD
– Service Design experience
– Experience with digital wayfinding technologies
– Working knowledge of reading architectural plans, sections, elevations and details
– Working knowledge of document management systems

 


 

Mid Weight and Senior Industrial Designers

We are looking for talented, self-motivated mid weight and senior product / industrial designers. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a developing team where you will be heavily involved in a variety of projects and work under the supervision of the Creative Director.

The projects will cover a variety of sectors including transport and public realm. The products to be designed will vary from architectural components, lighting, signage and street furniture.  Our clients are visionaries and leaders in their own fields; the designer will have the knowledge and confidence to work closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver high quality and creative products in accordance with design briefs.

Candidates need to show a robust knowledge of the full design process and demonstrate experience of delivering detailed technical drawings to production standards. A passion and understanding of craft, making and getting involved with manufacturers to deliver new innovative products is essential. Experience working in companies specialising in product / industrial design within the transport and public realm sectors is advantageous.

Core responsibilities:

– Deliver and/or lead multiple, often complex, design projects from concept through to site whilst adhering to the design briefs, programmes and budgets.
– Undertake project and user research and develop design briefs with the client team
– Produce and supervise the delivery of coherent drawings at conceptual stage, tender and construction stages.
– Collaborate with other design disciplines to co-ordinate and deliver designs
– Prepare presentations and design reports
– Support wider team members in the form of research, document creation, graphic work etc.

Depending on experience:

– Managing junior members of the team and keeping up to date with industry trends.
– Lead the design development, technical development and motivate the design team.
– Client pitching and delivery of presentations.
– Identifying business opportunities and supporting the business development team.

Skills:

– Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Product / Industrial Design or related field
– 5-10 years of industry experience with established agencies
– User centric focus with experience of service design
– Process led, developing products through concept drawings, models and finished presentations.
– Experience working across different design phases, from research to manufacture
– Excellent creative and technical skills; a strategic thinker combined with meticulous attention to detail
– A good understanding of British regulations and standards for design and construction.
– Proficient in Adobe CreativeSuite and Rhino
– Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
– Proactive, self-sufficient, collaborative and works well under pressure
– Ability to work across multiple projects and inspire/lead small teams
– Fluent in English verbal and written, other languages a plus
– Must have a valid EU work permit

 


 

Junior / Mid Weight Graphic Designers

We are looking for talented, self-motivated junior/mid weight graphic designers with 1-3 years of experience. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a developing team where you will be heavily involved in a variety of projects including wayfinding and information design studies within the transport and public realm sectors.

Experience working in companies specialising in graphic, information or wayfinding design is advantageous.

Our salary/package is competitive and dependent on the candidate’s experience.

Core responsibilities:

– Creating graphics and artwork to print-ready standard.
– Contributing to the creation of graphic specifications/design standards.
– Collaborate with other design disciplines to co-ordinate and deliver designs.
– Prepare presentations and design reports.
– Adhering to the design briefs, programmes and budgets
– Support wider team members in the form of research, document creation, model making etc.

Skills:

– Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Graphic / Information Design or related field
– 1 -3 years of industry experience with established agencies
– Proficient in Adobe CreativeSuite
– Excellent creative and technical skills; a strategic thinker combined with meticulous attention to detail
– Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
– Experience of working to brand guidelines
