Brief
Southampton City Council has had a Legible City prototype in place for the past two years, designed by City ID. The project was put out to tender to find a more cost-effective and manageable system.
In partnership with Atkins we won the contract in July 2010 to look at the product design of the signage system. Initially, we rationalised Southampton’s wayfinding system, providing signage, maps and a product family using the Legible City design guidelines. Due to the success of our partnership with Atkins the project has now been extended to include looking at Southampton’s old town area and integrating tourist attractions.
The signage will be implemented in March 2011, and the project will continue to roll out over the next four years.
