Junior Wayfinding Planner

We are looking for a talented, self-motivated full-time junior wayfinding planner. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a small team where you will be heavily involved in a variety of projects.

The principle responsibilities of this position will include assisting the planning team in the development of wayfinding strategies and documentation including reports, schedules and placement plans. Other design disciplines within the studio may also require support in the form of research, document creation or graphic illustration.

Candidates need to show a robust knowledge of how to develop wayfinding strategies and demonstrate an understanding of information design principles. Experience working in agencies specialising in wayfinding and information design and a working knowledge of graphic design is advantageous.

Typical tasks:

– Undertaking project and user research and analysing the data
– Undertaking audits of existing signage schemes and documenting the data collected
– Assisting in the creation of strategy and design documentation
– Assisting in the creation of detailed signage schedules and placement plans
– Collaborating with other design disciplines to co-ordinate the wayfinding strategy and design

Skills:

– Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Design or Planning related subject
– Experience in established agencies
– Excellent conceptual and strategic thinking skills with a user centric focus
– Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
– Ability to work across multiple projects
– Working knowledge of design, typography and composition skills
– Conscientious, organised, thorough and highly detail minded
– Proactive, collaborative and work well under pressure
– Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
– Fluent in English verbal and written, other languages a plus
– Must have a valid EU work permit

Bonus skills:

– CAD
– Working knowledge of reading architectural plans, sections, elevations and details
– Working knowledge of document management systems

 


Middleweight Information Designer

We are looking for a talented, self-motivated full-time middleweight information designer. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a small team where you will be heavily involved in a variety of projects.

The principle responsibilities of this position will involve the design development and documenting of wayfinding and mapping schemes, including colour palettes, typography, pictograms and other core graphic elements. Other design disciplines within the studio may also require support in the form of research, document creation or graphic illustration.

This role would suit candidates with 3 to 4 years’ experience currently working in this field. Candidates must demonstrate a keen interest in working on purely wayfinding, signage and mapping projects. This role would see the designer working with a mix of industrial designers, project architects and information planners. All the usual programme knowledge required plus some digital and user interface design knowledge would be advantageous.

Typical tasks:

– Undertaking project research and generating design concepts
– Development of core graphic elements such as colour palettes, typography and pictograms
– Applications of core elements in mapping and signage schemes
– Creation of design guidelines and reports
– Artworking
– Collaboration with other disciplines to co-ordinate design with the strategy and product.

Skills:

– Bachelors and/or Masters degree in design related subject
– Experience in established agencies
– Wayfinding background or at least a keen interest in working purely on wayfinding projects
– Excellent design, typography, composition and conceptual thinking skills
– Experience of drawing up maps and pictograms essential
– Must have experience of working with design guidelines
– Excellent artworking skills
– Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
– Confidence at presenting work to clients and ability to manage own project timings
– Ability to work across multiple projects
– Conscientious, organised, thorough and highly detail minded
– Proactive, collaborative and work well under pressure
– Proficient in at least: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
– Fluent in English verbal and written, other languages a plus
– Must have a valid EU work permit

Bonus skills:

– Digital/App design knowledge
– Experience of working on transport and urban wayfinding projects
– Experience of working with architects and industrial designers
