These platform roofs designed by UNstudio for the new Arnhem Central rail station have been getting plenty of attention on all sorts of design and architecture blogs lately.
The three somewhat entomological roofs cover three platforms between a passenger overbridge at one end, and platform tunnel entrances at the other.
The scheme features long structural spans with contoured cladding and integrated rooflights letting natural light onto the platforms.

The existing NS architectural components used in the scheme to carry their now familiar wayfinding graphics contrast nicely with the organic forms expressed in the architecture.

Thanks to the expansive glazed areas and the clear integration of the platform roofs and overbridge, the overall scheme achieves impressive visual lightness and cohesion.
