Al Farjan Wayfinding System - Maynard

In partnership with Grimshaw Architects, Maynard developed an integrated signage and wayfinding strategy and product family for the Al Raha sports stadiums.

Our integrated product and graphic design capabilities allowed us to take an integrated approach to the design of the signage components.

In partnership with Grimshaw’s London office, we divided the project down to four key stages: Strategy, Core elements, Kit of parts and Test sites.

Stage 1 involved rationalising the location plans and developing a clear wayfinding strategy.

Stage 2 covered the design of the visual language for the sign system, designing pictograms and selecting a arabic typeface.

Stage 3 focused on developing a kit of parts, creating bespoke product family and addressing materials and form.

Stage 4 focused on planning sign locations & schedules, then applying our initial wayfinding strategy to the four stadium locations.

The project demanded strong project management, seamless communication and a collaborative approach.
